I've brewed one batch of home-brewed beer, and it was only so-so. I found this site, and I wish I had known about it before my first time. Definitely a great site if you are into home brew. Next time, I'm going to try my hand at honey-mead.

Earth Watch sponsors research expeditions to various locations all over the world. I volunteered back in 1994 for a 2 1/2 week expedition to the rainforests of a small island (Ilha do Cardoso) in Brazil.  I had the best time of my life, and I would return in a heart beat.
